One of the Lycian Way’s Most Enjoyable Stages: Kekova We have walked many sections of the Lycian Way, but Kekova holds a special place for us. As the Safaritrek team, we experienced nature’s beauty and traces of history together on this route. 🏛️ On the first day, after checking into our hotel, we explored rather than walked: we visited the Museum of Lycian Civilisations, the ancient city of Myra and the Church of Saint Nicholas. We ended the day enjoying the afternoon sun by the sea.
🚶 Setting Off We began walking in the cool morning air, accompanied by the salty Mediterranean scent and birdsong. Stone paths, houses draped in bougainvillea and turquoise sea views made us think, with every step, “We’re so glad we’re here.”
🌊 The Magic of the Sunken City When we reached Kekova Island, the ancient ruins beneath the water captivated us. This meeting of history and sea made us reflect on time’s passage and the traces it leaves behind.
🏞️ A Break in Simena Reaching Simena (Kaleköy), we loved walking its narrow streets and looking out from the castle hill. The village’s welcoming atmosphere made us forget our tired legs. We still remember the ice cream we enjoyed in a small café.
✨ Why the Kekova Stage?
